Roger Sawtell has also been added to the mailing list. Roger is a very knowledgeable co-operative entrepreneur, who co-founded two ongoing worker co-operatives, Trylon Ltd.,Wollaston, in 1968, and Daily Bread Co-operative, Northampton, in 1980.
He has written at length on co-operative structure and employee participation.
Unicorn, the Manchester co-operative grocery is one of the worker co-ops which ‘follows on’ from a model devised by Roger in the 1980s and first used by the Daily Bread Co-op. Glebelands Market Garden points to his Blueprint For 50 Co-ops booklet: “concise and to the point . . . the Blueprint and Roger’s slide rule neatly combine clear ethics and efficient trading”.
