Organised by Co-operative Business Consultants (CBC) in the wake of the crisis over the future of the Co-operative Bank, the first Co-operative Ways Forward Conference was attended by over 150 people from all kinds of co-operatives, credit unions and trade unions, as well as individuals and journalists. The conference demonstrated the need for co-operators to have the opportunity to freely discuss successes, weaknesses and alternative strategies on an equal footing, in a solution focused environment. The conference was sponsored by the UK Society for Co-operative Studies and the country’s largest worker co-op, Suma Wholefoods, as well as by CBC.
Paul Gosling, one of the invited speakers, draws our attention to a second conference which intends to build on this success
