Setting the record straight for readers on the mailing list and the visitors from these countries who read the earlier post:
Following a welcome lead from David Smith, I find – as he said – that the Guardian report is misleading. As far as can be seen on the Co-op Bank website, the Money Saving Expert Forum entries in several mainstream newspapers last year are also wrong.
The Co-op website:
- Customer services – for general enquiries 08448 44 88 44
- Personal account enquiries (including Current Accounts, Savings and Loans) 08448 44 88 44 or 08457 212 212
The original informant adds:
- Co-op Legal use 0845 300 3367, which is at least local rate (but off peak, local is free on my account, but local rate is still charged). However as their office is working conventional hours, only the day rate matters. It is about 4p/minute
- But the Co-op Insurance claims department use 0844 844 8111 and I have just had the bill at 10p/minute (measured over 18 calls) and is called a “special service”
The fortunate people in Manchester and Solihull can phone their local Co-operative Bank branch.
